Luiza Helena Trajano is a Brazilian businesswoman who runs the national retail giant Magazine Luiza and several other companies and brands integrated into the company.

Luiza Trajano graduated in Law in 1972 from the Franca Law School. It managed to transform a small chain of stores in the city of Franca, in the interior of São Paulo, into a company that is currently fighting head-on with other giants in the segment. Before assuming the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Magazine Luiza, Trajano also worked in the collection and sales sectors.

She also leads the “Grupo Mulheres do Brasil”, formed in 2012 by women who work in different segments. Today, there are already 95 members of the initiative, who meet every month to discuss and propose actions related to education, entrepreneurship, social projects and quotas for women, in addition to working to support victims of domestic violence .

Finally, it should be noted that the businesswoman was also part of the Public Olympic Council (CPO), one of the bodies that supervised the preparations for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The businesswoman has just been chosen by Time as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Trajano is the only Brazilian to appear on this year’s list, published this Wednesday (15) by the American magazine.

“In the business world still dominated by men, Brazilian Luiza Trajano managed to transform Magazine Luiza, which started as a one-stop shop in 1957, into a retail giant with tens of billions of dollars,” said the former president.

When the Covid cases exploded in Brazil, causing a backdrop of economic recession, Lula also noted that Magazine Luiza “helped small businesses adapt to digital commerce by providing a platform to sell and deliver their products.”

“At a time when the Brazilian federal government was minimizing the risk posed by the pandemic, Luiza spoke boldly about the urgency of vaccination,” he added.
