Does Tenet connect with Origin (Inception) or other Christopher Nolan films?

MADRID, 27 Ago. (CulturaOcio) –

The most awaited moment has arrived, ‘Tenet’, the new by Christopher Nolan, has been released in theaters. The first Hollywood blockbuster to land in theaters after the outbreak of the pandemic. A film that follows the line of the filmmaker, of leaving no one indifferent. Now, as a result of various speculations that have arisen around the film: Does ‘Tenet’ have a connection to Nolan’s previous productions, like ‘Origin’?

Since the first teaser trailer for the film was published, back in August 2019, during the premiere of ‘Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw’, there have been several theories that have pointed out that ‘Tenet’ would be connected to ‘Origin ‘or’ Interstellar ‘, especially with the first, getting to comment that Robert Pattinson’s character was the adult version of Leonardo Di Caprio’s son.

The rumors that ‘Tenet’ would be a sequel to ‘Origin’, Nolan himself spoke about expanding that universe with a video game, they have finally settled on that, since the film has no connection with the previous films of the British filmmaker, at the less when it comes to the plot. With which, it is a completely original proposal and far from the franchise or saga concept.

That does not mean that, as with any director, there are no thematic connections with his previous works. In that sense, it could be said that ‘Tenet’ is related to several of the filmmaker’s films, especially with ‘Memento’ and ‘Interstellar’.

“The public that knows my work, will recognize some elements, such as the bullet that comes out of the wall and enters the weapon again. It is something that I portrayed, metaphorically, in ‘Memento’, but here we have concretized and shown it in more reliable way, “said Nolan in an interview with Digital Spy.

His connection to ‘Interstellar’ is more of a response to his analysis of the expansion of space. If with the film starring Matthew McConaughey, Nolan made his way breaking the schemes of space, being represented graphically through the journey through the universe, in this case, the director, who signed the script alone, stretches the concept of time, having a plot in which intertemporal travels exert a fundamental axis in the story.

But, neither in one case nor in the other is there a relationship beyond the theme. What’s more, Nolan himself has spoken about what has been one of his main references for the film, citing an installment of the 007 saga, ‘The spy who loved me’, in which James Bond was Roger Moore.

“I was about seven when I saw it, I went with my father to the movies. What I remember and try to retain from that experience is the feeling of possibility, that you can jump across that screen and go anywhere in the world and see the more amazing things, “explained the filmmaker. “It was pure escapism and an excellent component of fantasy,” he added.

Starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Caine, Himesh Patel and Clémence Poésy, ‘Tenet’ is available now in theaters.
