Joan Washington, a veteran of dialects and vocal coach and wife of Oscar nominee Richard E. Grant, died Wednesday. Grant posted the news on social media on Friday morning, but did not provide details.
“ONLY YOU Joan – Love of my life and Giver of life to our daughter Olivia,” Grant wrote in a tweet that includes a video of the couple dancing and smiling (see below). “Our hearts are broken by the loss of his life last night. 35 married and 38 together. Being truly known and seen by you is your immeasurable gift. Don’t forget us, my sweet Monkee.
Washington began his career working as a dialect coach on the 1983 Barbra Streisand film. Yentl. She had worked regularly in film and television since then, helping to teach voice and / or dialect in titles such as The Dressmaker, Highlander, Brassed Off, 101 Dalmatians and its sequel, Elizabeth, The Aquatic Life with Steve Zissou, A Mighty Heart, Wah Wah, The Invisible Woman, Crimson Peak, Red Sparrow, The Witches and this year Find you.
