Met Gala 2021 has officially begun, but some of the biggest stars — including Zendaya! — unfortunately won’t be in attendance.
As the carpet begins and celebrities start their journey through American fashion, fans are on high alert for Met Gala debuts, best looks, and couple moments. This year’s connected exhibit comes in two parts: Part one is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and will open on September 18. Part two comes next May, when the 2022 Met Gala will occur. COVID-19 precautions mean a more intimate event, though plenty of your faves will be walking the carpet this time around.

Check out which celebs won’t be attending the Met Gala this year, including Zendaya, Charli D’Amelio, Kylie Jenner, and more.
We’ve had a couple days to process Zendaya sharing the news she won’t be attending the Met Gala this year, but time hasn’t yet healed all wounds. She’s a Met Gala staple, always bringing looks that outshine everyone and nail the theme.
Tragically, she won’t be joining her Dune costar Timothée Chalamet this time around — because she’s filming Euphoria season 2. “I will be on Euphoria,” Z shared in a recent interview. “My fans are very upset with me. I will unfortunately not be able to attend because I’ll be working for Euphoria. I wish I could, especially since this fashion icon [Timothée] is going to be hosting.”
Though Dua is coming off one of her most successful years yet following the release of her smash hit Future Nostalgia in 2020, she won’t be celebrating her milestones at Met Gala 2021. The reason why is pretty straightforward: she’s busy!
The musician is currently filming her acting debut — Matthew Vaughn’s spy thriller Argylle, which also stars Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena and Samuel L. Jackson. The movie is currently filming in Europe, and Dua is also creating original songs for the score, THR notes.
Charli D’Amelio won’t be taking the carpet this year. Unfortunately for Charli, she’s actually just under the age limit at 17. “The funny thing about [the rumours] is I’m actually not old enough to go to the Met Gala but I have gotten so much hate about that and I’m like, guys, I can’t even go,” the 17-year-old told Sirius XM recently.
